Artistic- Pedagogical Program
Preliminary Consideration -Proposal and objectives
The teaching methodology my Contemporary Dance technique classes, regardless of the level is based on a synthesis of all I have studied and experienced throughout my artistic and pedagogical training( see enclosed curriculum).
I do not utilize one particular technique but implement a practice of movement which provides the student with skill- control and expressiveness as a interpreter. The training from the beginning of the class is organized as a structural sequence of movement, starting with the simplest and shortest continuing the most complex prolonged.
The objectives I propose in practice sessions are: consciousness, knowledge and training of:
a) - Clear exercising of design of the body movement in space.
b) -Awareness of where energy originates movements in the body.
c)-Variables of Space- Time- Strength and Space.
d) -Perception of body movement in space as volume. ( perception of “mass” and “emptiness”, considering the former body mass, and the latter the “emptiness” , which is produced between the parts of the body, other bodies or objects.
e) -Domination of the Flow of energy in the body from the center to the surface and its projection beyond the body limits. Awareness of the direct relationship between this projection and the expressive ability of the interpreter.
d) -Creation of Focus points within and outside of the body.
2-Workshops in Composition and Improvisation
The contents of the program presented here are based on the method of Joss- Lederer promoted by Rudolf von Laban.
The first learning approach is by means of improvisations where all the physical and imaginative capacity which the student possess play a role which leads to a personal search for the completion of their work.
The improvisation will be the source from which the choreography grows. The learning practice is combined with theory, that is: analysis-reflection – integration - and evolution of the work.
The analysis involves separation, isolation in order to redefine, paying attention to the detail.
The reflection provides objectivity and perspective.
The general objectives in this exercises are: the consciousness, knowledge and practice of:
a)- Clear achievement of the design of the body in space
b)- Localization of the “motor or “center” of the body in space from which the strength makes the movement possible.
c)- Variables in: - time- space- weight –flow
d)- Generation of focus points within and outside of the body.
e)- Relationship between space and sight.
Considering dance as the poetry of body movements, this analysis have the student to think in terms of movement. In order to do this it is important to be aware of many joints and mechanisms in the human body, special and rhythmic evolution as well as knowledge of internal state of mind. Discovering that, the imagination is in turn stimulated by experiencing physical activity.
Corporal movements produce alterations in the body and the surrounding space. Each of these alterations requires a specific time, and a certain amount of energy to be carried out.
It is possible to determine and describe any body movement in response to the following four questions:
1)- Which part of the body moves?
2)-In which direction in space the movement has been made?
3)- What was the duration of the movement?
4)- What amount of muscular energy does the movement requires?

Observations of the corporal actions as a interpreter on stage.

The plan presented here will be a guide for the development of potential creativity.
The program develops according to the dynamics, characteristics, and level of the group.
I consider the creation of an individual work (Solo )above all the best way initiate a search, it provides to student with a means of physical and mental connection with him/ herself as well as a way of accepting his/ her individual capacity or possibilities and illustrates what his personal fillings.
As second objective: a duo or short work with three dancer.
